In the Sindelfingen Primary School, we have developed a system that makes best use our ISS tools for engaging young learners. Our central focus is SeeSaw, a tool students are familiar with and which allows us to maintain a student-centred approach. Microsoft Teams is used for regular live communications and Veracross class websites provide an overview of learning objectives for parents.
Student Information System
We use our Veracross class websites to communicate about current learning objectives to parents. On the home page, you will find an overview of what we are currently planning for students and a collection of useful educational resources used by school. However, we want students to be as independent as possible. Our aim is that tasks are accessible to students independently.
Microsoft Teams is a tool that we are implementing specifically for our Distance Learning Program. This Office 365 app allows teachers and students to stay connected through scheduled live online meetings. We use Microsoft Teams to have a daily check-in with all students. These run on a staggered schedule. We strongly recommend attending these sessions, because we want students to still be in touch with the teachers and their class community. All families are asked to download the app to their devices using the student’s issev.de account.
Teachers send students activities through this tool. They can set work or ask students to respond to a video, media etc. Teachers will be exploring these options with their classes, setting daily or weekly work depending on how often students have that lesson in a normal school week. We do not expect students to follow their normal timetable, but to work on activities as they can according to their individual circumstances (device availability etc). They should also balance screen time!
