What learning will my child do?

On-site school based learning will focus on Math, Unit of Inquiry, Literacy, and German.

Distance Learning will include, of course, elements of the above, and more emphasis on the other areas of school life, to include Music, PE, Art, etc.

An Overview of the Program

  • Students will be in their classes and will do a weekly rotation.
  • There will be a maximum of 12 children in each of the classrooms that we will use.
  • Homeroom teachers will be in school, on their turn, with their class, the other teacher will be online for Distance Learning for their class and any children who cannot come into school.
  • When one class is in school, the other will be at home doing Distance Learning.
  • Any child not coming into school will be expected to join the Distance Learning each week.
  • Teachers will decide the configuration of the groupings of children. This allows for the return of other Lower School classes to ISS, and for those children to be ‘healthily distributed’ in other classrooms.
  • The on-site homeroom teacher will be supported by the German teacher, and other teaching staff.
  • The school day will be a staggered start for health reasons, and also with the necessary social distancing of arrival and departure routines.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the onsite schooling run?

There will be staggered start and end times between 08:15 – 12:45. See the information for your grade level.

How will my child come into and exit the school?

Please bring your children to the designated entry point either at the Lower School Playground gate or the Lower School Gym entrance.

What are the expectations?

My health, is your health, is our health’ will be a maxim repeated to our students. Nurse Heike, Mr. Whitaker and myself will give all children a thorough ‘pep’ talk and introduction to the expectations. Any child who cannot keep their social distance will be isolated from the rest of the group and if there is no change in behaviour, will not be allowed onsite for his/her learning.

What if my child has an existing health condition?

Parents should review the ISS health and hygiene documentation.

What will the rotation look like?

On-site school based learning will focus on Math, Unit of Inquiry, Literacy, and German.

Distance Learning will include, of course, elements of the above, and more emphasis on the other areas of school life, to include Music, PE, Art, etc.

Who will be the teachers?

Homeroom teacher, German teacher and other specialist educators in school, supporting one class each week.

Please read the grade-level specific information.

What should my child bring to school?

Your child should come to school with a morning snack and enough to drink for their whole time in school. Utensils and containers should be in a bag that the children can take home with them at the end of each day. No student will eat lunch on campus.

Children should not bring personal objects, such as toys, stationery or electronic devices. Coats and a small backpack will be stored in the classroom spaces.
